Welcome to the Electronic Press Kit of No Reply.

Our music is kinda like if Sublime and Jack Johnson hung out a lot with Fat Freddy’s Drop…

January 2026: We’re currently playing summer shows and in pre-production for our upcoming E.P!

That’s why: is our latest single, released on in April 2025. Listen to That’s why right here:

We’re excited to announce more music due to be released throughout 2025!

Hazy: was released 13 November 2024. It was written in response to a clouded sunrise with hope in the new day ahead. Hazy is a dub reggae vibe with cruisy pop melodies and a catchy horn riff. Another collaboration with Nate Sowter at Link Flamingo Studios in Tauranga, Hazy is ready for your summer playlist!

Big Bad Takeaway: was released on 18 September 2024. It reflects on both the good and challenging times in a relationship and recounts having someone by your side through it all.  Big Bad Takeaway is a horn-led groove on top of a hip hop beat, with flavours of rock and ska throughout.

Big Bad Takeaway is now our second song to be recorded, mixed and mastered by Nate Sowter at Link Flamingo Studios (The Sun Gods, Matty Buxton, Deadbeat, Smurgy, PNC, Blindspott).

Big Swells: is written about living in Rarotonga (Cook Islands, South Pacific). It uses the small island as an analogy to life in general, knowing that you are protected from the massive waves of the ocean by a reef. Sometimes you venture beyond the reef and need to deal with the choices you’ve made along the way. It was released on 29 November 2023.

This is another taste of the sound of the summer. Play it at a party. At the beach, At the barbie [BBQ]. At a show.” – Jack from FlashTrax (https://flash-trax.com/2023/11/16/no-reply-big-swells/)

Departure Lounge, our debut single was written in Wellington Airport shortly after the COVID Lockdowns lifted and domestic flights resumed. It sets the scene of a DJ playing a set to a seemingly oblivious crowd, which did not bother him at all- that DJ was in the zone, absorbed in the music. The song encourages the listener to find an outlet that they are truly passionate about, no matter if others vibe it or not. It was released on 13 July 2023 and debuted at #9 on the NZ Hot Singles Charts. Listen above.

Band Bio

No Reply are a Tauranga Moana (New Zealand) based indie-dub band playing sun soaked music made for long summer days. The sound blends tight grooves, laid back rhythms, bright horn lines, and infectious energy that feels unmistakably Kiwi. It is relaxed, warm, and easy to move to. Inspired by Fat Freddy’s Drop, Jack Johnson, Sublime and Kora, No Reply bring the head nod and the skank dance to your gathering.

The name No Reply is in reference to the band’s Whats App group, and the fact people can see people have read the message but….

Recent Highlights include opening for MidWave Breaks in their hometown show, headlining Vegan Vibes festival, Fringe Festival, various local shows and playing at One Arena for Festival One. The music has been played on Air New Zealand flights, local advertisements, podcasts, and various commercial and non-commercial radio stations (internationally and domestically).

No Reply’s music is an infectious blend of catchy melodies and irresistible rhythms that compel listeners to bop their heads along. Influenced by the harmonies of the Beach Boys, the rock vibes of Weezer, and the solid hip hop grooves of the 90’s, the horn lines tip their hats to the Wellington dub and roots scene. They create a sound that is simultaneously familiar and refreshingly unique.” – Sam Cummins (Tauranga Music Critic)
